About Lyn Mason
I was the middle child of five, born just after World War II, and grew up in what was then an idyllic small town, Chappaqua, New York. Our family also had ties to Vermont, as my parents had built a cabin there when I was ten, and we drove back and forth almost every weekend and spent summers there. My mother, a skilled amateur painter and passionate gardener, instilled in me a love of art, flowers, and beautiful surroundings, while my father inspired me to ski, travel and speak French. My abilities in French surfaced long before my artistic talent, but I managed to combine the two as an art history major and French minor in college. I spent a year abroad in Paris, studying both, and fell in love with France.

Having little preparation for any career upon graduation, I chose the fashion merchandising field and landed a job at Lord and Taylor in N.Y.C., where after four years, I met my future (and current) husband, Vaughan. Soon after we married, we spent a year living in Munich, working in the Bogner factory, pressing pants and traveling on weekends. When I was seven months pregnant with our first child, we returned to settle in the Pacific Northwest, where Vaughan's family lived. I stayed home with each of my three babies, eventually working part time in the family clothing store, and volunteering.

A few years after the birth of my third child, I began to ask myself what would be next on the horizon for my life after motherhood. That question led me to a turning point. I sought out a program to help me with the answer, but instead the program was designed to lead me on an inner journey of self discovery. I can't begin to explain all that happened as a result of this inner work. However, the two immediate and positive outcomes were that I began to take watercolor classes, and I launched avidly into a spiritual quest. While raising my family with Vaughan and working part time, I became dedicated to making the most out of myself as a human being and serving others by my example. I volunteered for ten years with Rise n' Shine, a program dedicated to helping and mentoring children whose lives were affected by AIDS. I continued to paint and study healing energy work and spirituality in many venues. I joined an ongoing awareness meditation group and began to discover what it felt like to be a “human being” rather than a “human doing”. In summary, my path guided me toward wholeness and empowered me to be my authentic self. I began to be less fearful and more trusting of life's process.

It was not until 2000 that my watercolors began to evolve into abstract expressions that seemed to come from a divine source. With a technique I learned in a class, I started to paint “other worldly” florals. Then I received the message from three different sources that I had the gifted ability to paint the soul essence of others. I tried it out on my best friend Diane King, and the process began to flow. Soon Soul Visions was born. After a year, I accepted the challenge to write the meaning of what I had painted as part of the portrait package. As a final confirmation, I was urged by Marie Manuchehri, an energy intuitive I had met, to create my website. My purpose is to guide others to the realization of their own true beauty and potential, thereby contributing to the ascension of human consciousness. My belief that I am fulfilling my soul's mission gives me great satisfaction and deep inner peace.

A longtime resident of the Seattle area, I currently live in Kirkland, WA with my husband. Apart from my spiritual pursuits, I enjoy singing in my Unity church choir, hula and salsa lessons, skiing, tennis, biking and gardening. My three children live in the Portland area and have already gifted us with ten grandchildren! I am truly blessed.
